| The International Opal Jewelry Design Award Association is a world famous and renowned Association of the International Jewelry Industry. This industry leader association organizes and presents excellence awards every year to those who contribute towards the quality of the jewelry design in an exceptional way. And like every year, this year to IOJDAA organized mega event and honored the stunning jewelry designers with prestigious awards. But the exceptional and most important part of this event was an award that was given to a teenage school girl for her extra-ordinary and stunning jewelry design. About the winner: The award that was given to the 14 year old, Perth based school girl under the “Non-professional” category. This girl had made a stunning piece of jewelry called “The Tapestry”. This awesome piece of her work includes a boulder opal set in 18ct Gold and one carat of earthy color diamonds, peridot and blue topaz were mixed with it. Maddy Blennerhassett who won the award said that she designed the entire piece at her own and did not take anyone’s help. It was a learning through doing experience for me as I learnt many thing as i progressed in the work, she added. When asked how did you get the idea and how did you managed the things, she replied that I got inspired from my mom who kept working on designing jewelry for her own showroom. Spends hours and hours on making designs better and I always wanted to be a jewelry designer like her”. About the event: This year’s event was a mega success and the evidence can be traced from the numbers of applications that the award function received which stands up to 100 individuals from both Australia and overseas domains. The International Opal Jewelry Design Awards Association emphasizes on the emerging skills of jewelry designers and inspires them to make their work and skills better by rewarding them via such events.
