St. Sophia' Cathedral, where the princes of Kiev were inaugurated in the years of Kiev's grandeur, has spectacular frescoes and mosaics which date back to the 11th century. The Percherska Lavra, a short trolley ride from city center, has two 11th-century cathedrals on its territory, alongside its well-known catacombs, a bell tower, and museum collections.
